Nador is an authentic Berber town which is located in the North of Morocco, on the edge of the Reef Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. It is a great place for sun/sea/beach with great food and a lot of nice shopping areas. It is the perfect destination to discover pure Morocco.

 

Flora & fauna Nador 

In addition to the beautiful beach, Nador has also a very nice flora & fauna and is the place to be for bird watchers, there are namely a lot of special flowers and plants which attract special birds. A few kilometers from Nador is a freshwater lagoon where you can find birds like; the Black-tailed godwit, Egret, Kingfisher and Spotted redshank. There is also a saltwater pool which is located around 30km from Nador. In this pool you can find Flamingo’s, Black-throated diver, Katydid and Sand spiders. Furthermore, there is also the Reef Mountains with her beautiful views, hiking- and bicycle routes.

‘Spain’ in Morocco 

Combine ‘Spain’ with Morocco? It is all possible.
Within thirty minutes driving from Nador, you will be in Melilla, a Spanish enclave surrounded by Moroccan territory. A real melting pot of cultures where a Catholic Church, Synagogue and a Hindu Temple are standing next to each other.
When you are in Melilla it feels like you are in Spain with the Tapas and Bocadillos.

From Melilla you are able to cross to the Spanish Mainland (Almeria) within 03:30 hours

Climate Nador  

Nador has a pleasant Mediterranean climate and is the perfect city to visit the whole year. During spring and autumn the temperatures are about 22 degrees. The summers are warm, dry and very sunny with temperatures around the 28 degrees and therefore more pleasant than for example Marrakech

Practical information

Health 

Healthcare is pretty good in Moroccan cities. There are many private clinics where good care is given at high cost and the larger hotels usually also have a medical service available. Outside the larger cities, the medical services are limited.    

Passport and visa 

You need a valid passport which is valid for more than 6 months on the day of your departure from Morocco. You do not need a visa for stays less than 90 days.

Time zone

There is no time difference with Morocco during the wintertime.
During summertime, it is one hour earlier in Morocco than in the Netherlands/Belgium.

The total flight time from Rotterdam or Brussels to Nador is approx 3 hours.

Currency

The local currency in Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD).
You can find cashpoints in the larger cities and tourist areas.

Electricity and adapter plug

Morocco has 220 volt and use two types of sockets;

  1. Type C (Same socket as we have in the Netherlands/Belgium)
  2. Type E (Two round holes with above an outstanding earthing pin)
