What can I bring as carry-on luggage when flying with Transavia?
Cabin Baggage:
Since April 3, 2024, Transavia has implemented a new carry-on baggage policy. Carry-on items are now classified into two categories: cabin baggage and hand baggage.
How much baggage can I bring into the cabin?
Passengers aged 2 and up may bring one piece of hand baggage (such as a small backpack or handbag).
- Maximum hand baggage dimensions: 40 x 30 x 20 cm*
This item can always be taken into the cabin and should be placed under the seat in front of you. Small bags such as a handbag, laptop bag, plastic shopping bag, or camera bag also count as one piece of hand baggage.
You are also allowed to bring an umbrella, walking stick, and one bag of duty-free items on board.
Would you like to bring larger cabin baggage such as a travel bag or trolley?
- Maximum cabin baggage dimensions: 55 x 35 x 25 cm*
Combined with your hand baggage, cabin baggage must weigh a maximum of 10 kg and not exceed the size limit.
You can book this additional cabin baggage yourself through Transavia’s self-service options, depending on availability, from 5 days before departure. You will receive a link to book in the service email that contains the latest flight information. This booking guarantees that you can bring your cabin baggage on board and provides priority boarding.
*Dimensions include wheels and handles.
Can I check in cabin baggage?
It is not possible to drop off cabin baggage at the check-in desk. If you prefer to travel without extra baggage, you can choose to book hold luggage. This allows you to go through security more quickly and keeps your hands free. Just make sure to keep valuables like documents, electronics, batteries, and medications in your hand baggage (40 x 30 x 20 cm), so you have them with you on board.
Gate Baggage Fee
Please measure and weigh your hand and cabin baggage at home to ensure it meets the above requirements. Your baggage will be checked at the airport. If it is too large, too heavy, or if you have too many items, a fee starting at €65 will be charged at the gate, and the baggage will be transported in the hold.
I am traveling with a baby; how much hand baggage can I bring?
A baby under 2 years old does not have an allowance for hand baggage if traveling on your lap. If you would like to bring baby food, a diaper bag, or other baby essentials into the cabin, please include them in your own hand baggage.
You are allowed to bring a foldable stroller up to 10 kg to the gate. The foldable stroller will be checked in at the gate and transported in the hold. The stroller is included in the 10 kg of hold luggage you are allowed to bring for the baby.
I am traveling with a toddler; can I bring a stroller?
In addition to the hand baggage that each passenger aged 2 and older is allowed to bring, you may bring a foldable stroller up to the gate free of charge.
What can or can't I bring in my hand or cabin baggage?
Please refer to Transavia’s information on items allowed in baggage.
Here, you’ll also find the rules for liquids in hand baggage. These rules will be strictly enforced at Rotterdam Airport starting September 1, 2024.
